Day 2 Tong Shi to Sa Lu 9-27-12

Ester did a lot of research about our bike route. The original plan was to ride from Sun Moon Lake in Taichung to Sinchu City. She later found out that the Giant bike store in Sun Moon Lake do not have bikes for us.  We settled for Taichung. The original plan for that morning was to travel down the eastern part of Taichung City.

We had breakfast at a local sandwich place.

We stopped by the bridge for some pictures.

After the initial hill at highway 129, I stopped and asked a factory worker about what was ahead of us. She told me that there were more hills.

After some discussion, we decided to change plan. We went back to the bike trail and returned to Fong Yuan.

From Fong Yuan, we took the Ho Fong bike trail and headed towards Ho Li.

It was the right decision. Ho Fong Bike Trail is beautiful!

We came across this bridge.

Milo is a busy businessman. With the aid of a cellphone, business is as usual!

After crossing the bridge, we entered a tunnel. Just the right place to cool down!

It was scorching hot at noon when we arrived at Ho Li.

The heat must have triggered something within Ester and Ivan's mind... they started a fight with Milo.

No worry, no blood! It was just a few poses for the record! After the "fight", we rode to the town of Ho Li.

We had lunch at a newly opened noodle place.

Then we hide at 85 degree C, a cake and coffee place.

Milo has been sending pictures to his wife as the events unfold. He was happy to find a strong Wifi signal.

We spent a lot of money on these 2 items...

Well, we could not hide forever. So we hit the rode.

Ester found a way to beat the heat when we resumed ride, We rode at the opposite side of the street! Why? Because there is shades from the buildings.

After Ta Chia, we took highway 1. If you want a route with many 7-11 and places to stay, highway 1 is a good choice. But at the same time, you have to deal with the traffic!

We crossed Ta Chia river.

We passed by Ta Chia, Ching Shui, and finally had dinner at Long Jing. Dinner was delicious. We had dumplings and tofu.

With the advise of the locals, we headed north to Sa Lu.

With the advise of the locals at Sa Lu, we found our hotel for the night.

Distance covered: 54 km/ 32 miles
